How Scrypt Calculator estimates mining profitability

Scrypt Calculator uses Scrypt Price market observations and live chain or mining-network feeds. Every result is a projection of expected work, not a promise of rewards.

Reward formula

Expected coins per day = hashrate in hashes/second × 86,400 × block reward ÷ (difficulty × 2³²), using the chain’s difficulty convention. Where network share would be significant, the calculator limits the estimate to the miner’s share of total issuance.

Gross revenue = expected coins × the observed USD price. Pool fees = gross revenue × pool fee percentage. Electricity = rated watts ÷ 1,000 × 24 × USD/kWh. Net profit = gross revenue − pool fees − electricity.

Merged mining and standalone alternatives

Litecoin and compatible AuxPoW coins can use the same hashing work. Rewards are summed once and electricity is charged once. DigiByte and Catcoin are standalone alternatives, not extra rewards in the Litecoin basket. Pool support limits which rewards are counted.

Sources, freshness and missing coverage

Prices come from Scrypt Price. Reward tables identify the network source and its observation time, including our node observations and external mining-network feeds where needed. A missing price or network observation is shown as unavailable or excluded, with partial coverage disclosed. An estimate timestamp is when the calculation ran; it is distinct from the time the input was observed.

Hardware and payback

Hashrate and power are catalog specifications, not our own bench measurements. Hardware listings can change or contain mistakes. Suspect prices are excluded from payback calculations. A linear daily estimate cannot predict future difficulty or price; the interactive longer-term calculations may apply known reward changes.

Pool versus solo

Expected work can be similar, but payout variance is very different. Solo mining may receive no block for a long period. Pool rewards depend on accepted shares, payout method, fees and luck. Use actual pool and meter records to compare projections with realized results.

Weekly reports

Reports preserve one timestamped network-derived snapshot per week with a fixed default scenario. They are not weekly averages or realized payouts. Changes between snapshots are reported only after both periods have observations. JSON and CSV downloads preserve the published numbers.
