Scrypt Wallet is a free Ethereum wallet for Android and the web. Use it to hold ETH and ERC-20 tokens, send and receive them, swap, and keep your Ethereum balance next to your other coins.
Get started in three steps
1. Create a free account. No card is needed. You can also add more than one ETH wallet to the same account later.
2. Open Receive. Choose ETH to see your address, then copy it or scan the QR code.
3. Send ETH to that address. From an exchange or another wallet, withdraw ETH on the Ethereum network (not a layer 2 unless you know it is supported). You can watch the transfer on Etherscan.
What you can do with ETH in Scrypt Wallet
- Send and receive ETH, with the network fee shown before you confirm
- Hold and send ERC-20 tokens next to your ETH
- Swap ETH and ERC-20 tokens in the app through Uniswap
- Connect to apps through WalletConnect
- Compare lending yields from providers such as Morpho in Earn
- Hold more than one ETH wallet in the same account
- Keep Bitcoin, Solana, Litecoin and other coins in the same app
Receiving ETH
Open Receive, choose ETH and copy the address. An Ethereum address starts with 0x and is 42 characters long. Check which network a sender is using: the same 0x address exists on many networks, but ETH on a different network is a different balance. If you are not sure, send a small amount first. How to find your ETH wallet address walks through it.
Sending ETH and paying gas
Every Ethereum transaction pays a network fee called gas. The fee changes with how busy the network is, and Scrypt Wallet shows it before you confirm. Read what is gas and the base fee for how it is set. If you send ERC-20 tokens, you still pay the fee in ETH, so keep some ETH in the wallet even if you mostly hold tokens.
Your ETH balance and ERC-20 tokens
ETH is Ethereum's own coin. ERC-20 tokens are separate assets that live at the same address, and each one needs ETH for gas to move. How to check an ETH wallet balance explains how to see both in your wallet and on Etherscan. For the standard behind these tokens, see what is an ERC-20 token.
Choosing an Ethereum wallet
MetaMask and Rabby are widely used Ethereum wallets, and either can hold ETH. What matters more than the name:
- Which coins do you need? An Ethereum-only wallet is simple. If you also hold other chains, one app for all of them means fewer apps to secure.
- Where do you use it? Scrypt Wallet runs as an Android app and in the browser. If you need a desktop browser extension, check that before you choose.
- How do you recover it? Read how recovery works before you put money in, and keep your own backup. See crypto backups and wallet recovery.
- How do you check tokens and approvals? Be careful with any token you didn't choose to receive, and never approve spending you don't understand.
Security and recovery
Keep your recovery information somewhere durable and offline. Support will never ask for your recovery phrase or private key. Make sure you are on wallet.scryptwallet.io before you enter anything, and read private keys and seed phrases.
