You can check the balance of any Dogecoin address without logging in anywhere, because Dogecoin's blockchain is public. This guide covers both your own wallet and an address you only know the public address of.
Check your own balance
In Scrypt Wallet, your DOGE balance is on the dashboard, with its activity and a price in your chosen currency. If you hold more than one DOGE wallet, each shows its own balance.
Check any address with a block explorer
1. Copy the Dogecoin address. It starts with a D.
2. Open a block explorer such as DogecoinBlockExplorer.
3. Paste the address into the search bar.
The page shows the current balance, the total received and sent, and every transaction. Anyone can look up any address, so a balance check only needs the public address. It never needs a private key or recovery phrase, and you should never share those to check a balance.
Reading the result
- Balance: What the address holds right now.
- Confirmations: A transaction with only a few confirmations can still change. Wait for several before you treat it as final.
- Unconfirmed: A transfer in the mempool is not part of the balance yet.
What a balance check can't tell you
A block explorer shows an address, not a person. It doesn't tell you who owns the address, and a wallet may use many addresses. If you hold the wrapped token on Solana instead of native DOGE, it will not appear here. See Dogecoin and the Solana Dogecoin token.
Be careful with balance checker sites
Search results for a doge wallet checker include sites that ask for your recovery phrase or private key. A real balance check never needs either. If a site asks, close it.
