A Scrypt ID is a short name, like yourname.scrypt, that points to your wallet addresses. Instead of copying a long address, people can pay your name.
How it works
1. Claim a name. Open your profile in Scrypt Wallet and choose a name.
2. Link your addresses. Pick which of your wallet chains the name should point to. You can link addresses for the coins in your wallet.
3. Share the name. Someone sending to you can use the name, and the sender's wallet resolves it to the right address for that coin.
Linking is identity-only: it tells people where to pay you. It does not move funds.
Cost
Your first name is free. Each additional name is a flat $5, paid in Litecoin. Check the claim screen for the current price before you pay.
Using your name
When you receive a payment request, give the name instead of an address. When you send to someone's name, check that the wallet shows the address it resolved to for the coin you are sending, and compare the first and last characters with what you expect. You can add or change linked chains later from your profile.
Good to know
- Check the address before you send. A name still resolves to an address, and a confirmed transaction can't be reversed.
- Public names. Names that are public can be looked up, so don't pick one that reveals something private.
- Mining pools. Pools can offer payouts to a Scrypt ID. See the developer page.
